Getting Started with Squidoo?

Lens creating is the mechanics behind Squidoo.com.  However, you will need something to help bring the gears together.  Fortunate for you, this should not be all too difficult.  Why, because you have already taken the first step at considering creating a lens, hence you must know something.  Sounds circular, I know, so let's get moving.

First, you must come up with a subject to talk about.  Most of my lens are mostly related to computers, where you may want to discuss you favorite recipes or how to build a model rocket.  Never the less, you need ideas, so brainstorming is the first step in the right direction.  So, go and get a piece of paper and pencil.  Create a cloud in the middle, then write your main category.  My category was computers.  Now this term is way too broad, so we need children in this category.  What else could be related to computers?  How about power supplies?  Yep, this is what I created a lens on already.  You can see it at:  http://www.squidoo.com/power-supply-failure-symptoms.

The lens above is doing very well at the moment.  It provides quality content for its readers and has plenty of opportunities to sell some products on the page.  Squidoo has many modules to insert into your lens.  I personally like Amazon and eBay because they are names many have come to trust.

Do and Don't List:

•  Be Original:  Never copy anybody's content without their explicit written permission

•  When creating your account, be creative and unique in with your ID.  Ours is RyansCCS hence the name of our business.

•  Take time and accurately fill in your profile.  The more connected your readers are with you, the more they will trust your content.  Adding a person picture or two does help.

•  Visit SquidU to learn of already asked questions, to ask a question, or answer questions that you cannot find on this site.

•   Join groups, become a fan, and favorite lens that you really like.  Leave comments.  What goes around comes around, so be nice!

•  Don't leave flaming comments, if you don't like a lens, just leave or rate it poor.  If you think it has violated rules, then report it to Squidoo's administrator.

•  When you create lens, keep them fresh with current content, unless of course the content is timeless, this may be difficult.

So go and get writing, typing, and brainstorm some more.  Before you know it you will be on your way to becoming a giant squid!
