Okay Squid, how do you think we are going to drag our land lover friends into this
vast ocean, arrrrhh!? LOL
Anyways, the truth is you cannot expect to only create a lens and then unbelievable amounts of traffic to magically appear. This just does not happen most of the time, while sometimes lens may hit the top of the search engine, it typically takes a little work (marketing.) Whether you signed up with Squidoo for money, fame, socializing, or all the above you will need to market your lens. Yes, Google will do some of this for you if your lens is well written, but Google isn't the only fishermen out there.
So, how does one market a lens? Well, first realize that your lens, no matter the subject, is really a product. Even if it isn't a tangible product, it is still at the least content (hopefully value, and quality driven.) After you have jumped over this small hurdle, let's look at some of the sites below.
Merchant Circle | Sign Up
• This is a free place to post a business listing. You can find ours here.
Linkreferral.com | Sign Up
• Link referral has a unique system of getting traffic to a lens (or any website) by simply browsing sites, leaving your reviews, and participating in forums, you will in in turn receive the same. I personally use this site for this website alone. It has been a nice success with traffic. It helps to get the word out fast just like MerchantCircle.com.
Clickbank | Sign Up
• Click Bank is a great way to enter the affiliate advertising market. The idea of others selling your products is amazing. Signing up is free, however be sure you will be able to pay your affiliates when a sale is complete. There are many tiers, and lots of information at their website to further understand this avenue.
UsFreeAds | Sign Up
• This is the equivalent of classifieds online. I have had a lot of success with this form of advertising. It has helped with both traffic and sales. You can start off with the free sign up, however if you are like me and like to place as many ads as you want with picture options, then you will probably upgrade to the premium services. Which by the way, is CHEAP!
LensRoll | Sign Up
• Much like LinkReferral, LensRoll.com will allow you to post your brand new lens for the world to see and comment on, thus bringing traffic to your lens.
Local Offline Flyers | Newspaper Ads
• If you use this method, keep your lens web url short as possible, nobody wants to type in a huge web address. This could be effective is worded well and doesn't come across as a sales pitch scam.
Facebook | Myspace | Email Signatures
• If you are not using Facebook.com, Myspace.com, and or e-
As you can see, the above will get you headed in the right direction towards getting some traffic to your lens. Hopefully these methods will also birth some one way back links as well. If a person or business likes what they see, they may reference it on their blog or website. This is invaluable, and should be greatly appreciated. Best wishes on your traffic success!
